BIOGRAPHY

After years of playing out on an "only when asked" basis, Awkward Phenom finally began his journey as a full time professional musician in 2016 as one half of the Memphis, TN based duet The Rusty Pieces. Spending more than half a decade in the music rich city of Memphis, he proved himself as an accomplished songwriter and tireless performer. A.P. has had the opportunity to share stages with acts like Glen Matlock from Sex Pistols, Sylvain Sylvain from New York Dolls, David Shaw of the Revivalists, Kip Winger from the band Winger, Mike Doughty of Soul Coughing, and the late blues artist Preston Shannon.  While in Memphis he was lucky enough to spend time in the studio recording with legends like Reverend Charles Hodges (Al Green's organist), Leroy Hodges (Al Green's bassist), Cody Dickinson (North Mississippi All Stars), and Steve Selvidge (The Hold Steady). Returning to Ohio in late 2021, Awkward Phenom now brings his diverse style of songwriting back to his hometown of Columbus.
